about

I made this June 14, 2009 to honor the passing of a friend, Hugh Hopper (29 April 1945 - 7 June 2009). Those who know the world of Progressive Music and Jazz know his name and are familiar with his work in bands like Soft Machine, Nucleus, Soft Heap, Stomu Yamashta's East Wind, Isotope, Gilgamesh, the Carla Bley Band, Hughscore and too many more to list. Though I can't claim to have been a close friend, I was privileged to get to work with Hugh in both Progman Cometh concerts in 2002 and 2003 and he was a major influence in my musical career through his work with Soft Machine. Furthermore, he contributed to songs on two of my band Glass' albums as well as two of my solo albums. Not only was he a very quick and professional collaborator who always seem to "get it" without much explanation but I also found him to be a wonderfully humorous man with a sharp wit and an unending thirst for new ways to approach creating art. He will be greatly missed and I am honoring his last request daily . . .Om Mani Padme Hum. On into the light my friend!

This site is for Jeff's other music.

"His music comes to him from The Stream. When he sits down to play, he casts his line. Sometimes he has no preconcieved idea as to what he might find. He only knows the ideas will come to him-from somewhere.

As he composes, what he feels is The River of Life as it washes over him."
