about

Way back in 1978 Brian Eno released an album entitled “Ambient 1 / Music for Airports” which opened my eyes and ears to a whole world of music happening around me. And though I didn’t buy it until it came out on CD many years later, it along with bands like Tangerine Dream really affected the way I thought about what “music” actually was. It helped me realize that “music” was actually all around us. All the time. In fact, it’s only on rare occasions (like being in a soundproof room) that we aren’t enclosed in some kind of sound. Therefore if you open your mind up wide enough, everything can be considered music of some kind. Nature herself is a beautiful cacophony. A symphony of ever changing sound. This concept profoundly interested me and I began to collect all manner of sound samples natural and manmade. I began creating soundscapes. And I continue to this day. Sometimes the soundscape manifests itself in a soundtrack for a conceptual movie happening in my head.

As it has with this my latest collection of ambient pieces I've just finished recording in my home studio. I've always been fascinated with space both in the quantum realm and in the planetary realm. These are my musical 'sketches" of what an as-of-yet undiscovered 9th planet in our solar system might be like to experience.

Wikipedia:
Planet Nine is a hypothetical planet in the outer region of the Solar System. Its gravitational effects could explain the peculiar clustering of orbits for a group of extreme trans-Neptunian objects (ETNOs), bodies beyond Neptune that orbit the Sun at distances averaging more than 250 times that of the Earth. These ETNOs tend to make their closest approaches to the Sun in one sector, and their orbits are similarly tilted. These alignments suggest that an undiscovered planet may be shepherding the orbits of the most distant known Solar System objects.

This site is for Jeff's other music.

"His music comes to him from The Stream. When he sits down to play, he casts his line. Sometimes he has no preconcieved idea as to what he might find. He only knows the ideas will come to him-from somewhere.

As he composes, what he feels is The River of Life as it washes over him."
