about

In my quest to release everything I’ve ever recorded, my producer Bob Carlberg and I are now going through the trove of “worktapes” I’ve been dragging around all these years. Surprisingly the recorded quality on most of these is quite acceptable. I remember buying a little stereo condenser microphone at the Radio Shack in Glendale, California during my time living at the Glendale YMCA. I already owned a nice Sony Walkman Pro cassette recorder that I kept by my bedside for whenever the Muse visited.

Frankly I’m surprised that I was so prolific with my song ideas but I guess that’s what living in the monk-like confines of the “Exclusive Gentleman’s Club” (as I used to call the Y) will do for one’s motivation. I had, after all, come to California as a last-ditch effort to "make it" in the Music Biz.

Truth is I was 31 and scared. I really wasn’t equipped to do anything else in life but music. And I had no idea on the long drive down (in a friend’s borrowed car that broke down half-way) that everyone that comes to California is here to try and be either an actor, a comedian or yes, a musician....

Some of these songs were later recorded by one of my bands, as linked in the comments.

This site is for Jeff's other music.

"His music comes to him from The Stream. When he sits down to play, he casts his line. Sometimes he has no preconcieved idea as to what he might find. He only knows the ideas will come to him-from somewhere.

As he composes, what he feels is The River of Life as it washes over him."
